On Oct. 21, 2022, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the designation of Ethiopia for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months and on Dec. 12, 2022, will publish a Federal Register notice explaining the registration process.
This TPS designation of Ethiopia allows nationals of Ethiopia (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Ethiopia) who have continuously resided in the United States since Oct. 20, 2022, and who have been continuously physically present in the United States since Dec. 12, 2022, to apply for TPS.
The Federal Register notice explains the procedures necessary for an individual to submit an initial application under the designation and to apply for an Employment Authorization Document.
